Overview
There is a minimum return window of 30 days on the Walmart Marketplace, which begins seven days after an item’s ship date. However, there are some exceptions. For more information, see Marketplace Returns Policy. Configuring the return window and eligibility can be done via the Bulk Return Rules Spec on Seller Central.
You can customize your return settings at the item level and prioritize them over category-level return rules. You cannot set return exemptions for hazmat, freight, or custom items using the Bulk Return Rules Spec. To update your item price using the Bulk Return Rules Spec, follow the steps below.
Bulk Return Rules Spec
1. Log in to your Seller Central account.
2. Navigate to the Product Catalog section and select Items.
3. At the top right corner, choose Manage Items and then Update Items to open the Update Items in Bulk page within Seller Central.
4. Select your fulfillment type. Then, under Select update method, choose By template (price, inventory, etc.) to select and download the Return Rules template.
5. Once the template is downloaded, open it and fill in your item-level overrides on the Return_ItemOverrides tab. When you’re ready, save the file.
6. Return to the Update items in bulk page within Seller Central. Below the templates, upload your file into the box Upload completed spec and view progress in the Activity Feed.
All sellers are responsible for ensuring their Return Rules are accurate. Sellers will be responsible for all costs generated because of any return setting applied in error.
Download Your Return Rules Overrides
1. Use the Download button to navigate to the Manage Reports dashboard and access your Return Rules Overrides report. When the Download current view dialog box appears, select go to the Reports page.
2. The Manage Reports view will open. Select the download icon for the report type under Scheduled Reports to download your desired report.
Your report may take a while to download, depending on the number of items affected. The file is saved in .zip format when it has finished downloading. The file name will start with “returns_report”. SKUs without a return rule override are not listed. If you have not set up return rule overrides, the downloaded report will have headers and a message that states, “No Item Overrides Found”.
Our system generates the report every 12 hours on average. This means that recent changes are not reflected in the data. For example, if you download the report at 12:30 PM, the data provided is what was available when the report started generating at 8:00 AM. This will not include updates processed at 11:00 AM. When you download the report in Seller Central, it states the time the system generated the report.
